Fantastic Fashion Doesn't Go Out of Style

There is a wedding in my future. It is a mere 3 months away. I decided I ought to be thinking about my attire for this event so I started looking online at dresses that would be suitable - not too formal and fancy, not too casual. I've looked at hundreds of dresses, and I can't find anything that really appeals to me and would be suitable for the wedding. It's a good thing I started looking early as it is now apparent that if I have to order a dress, it could take a couple of months to get it. I did see one dress I liked: a vintage 1950s party dress. I like the style: simple, classically elegant, with just a hint of glitz. At $255 with 4 hours left in the auction, this one will undoubtedly sell for more. Somehow, vintage or not, I don't think I want to wear a dress to a wedding that will be competitive with the cost of the bride's dress. I wasn't actually looking for a vintage dress when I began my search, but not finding what I was looking for, I did a search that pulled up vintage dresses, and I couldn't help but take a look. Someone is going to LOVE this dress and look fabulous in it!

Admit it. It IS classically beautiful.

Vomit

It has been my experience that days that start with vomit are rarely as productive as they could be, or as they might have been intended to be at the outset. It doesn't matter where the vomit comes from, although it could be argued that it is better if it does not come from one's self, vomit and productivity do not mix. MY day began with vomit. I am thankful it was not my vomit. It was however a game changer insofar as my day was concerned. I do not like vomit. Thank God for disinfectants, running water, and Yankee candles.

Has Blogging Become Passé?

I was wondering to myself, just the other day, whether blogging had become passé. I don't really believe it has. I think it is no longer a trendy fad, and that those who wish to blog are out there blogging and maintaining a presence on the web. I think it has become an accepted part of life, at least in western countries.

I think those who blog typically have something to say and once they find a place they are comfortable navigating, they write. This doesn't guarantee an audience, but it is an outlet. I think one of the biggest changes in the blogging experience since its inception in the late 90s to early 2000s, when most people first heard of "web logs," is that people are less inclined to wonder why anyone would want to read about some unknown person's daily life experiences. People will often come and read if someone writes. It's just a matter of the right people with the right interests stumbling upon the right blog. Of course, one has to write consistently to keep them coming back.

Another big change since blogs have been mainstreamed is the tendency for people (people from the past, potential employers, current employers, law enforcement, the media, etc) to start looking you up on the web if it suits their purposes. Facebook tends to be the site of choice for getting a feel for who people really are beyond the pixels, but it started with blogs. So is blogging passé? Not yet. It still serves a purpose and gives people an outlet for creative expression.
